Poster Plan

For my poster I was thinking that I could go with an Sci-Fi or Action look to it by having the hero and villain opposing each other or them have the both of them in a stance that shows the importance of both and status compared to the other, so by taking that in to consideration I went on to producing a couple of sketches on Photoshop to get these ideas out and in front of me so that I may choose the one gives the best representation of what I am aiming for with the look of my poster. I ended up with the second idea since it represented the look that I wanted, like the big close up of one character and a mid-shot of another which shows their importance and similarity to the other without losing their own importance, as well as being a calm and peaceful look alongside the fact that fills up the page without the need of any clear visible action.

EDIT 29/03/12
Mood chart that has helped with creating my entire production as well as what has influenced me-

There have been quite a lot of posters similar to the one that I have chosen to go with like the Star Trek ones or The Prestige posters, which have a clear indication of who is in the film as well as the dark mystery behind their rivalry without giving everything away, gives a slight hint of Scarlett Johansson's character being involved with something to do with their rivalry, because of her being in a flame like appearance, indicating the flame that sparked their rivalry and in my own poster I am trying to do that with the planet in the background having an important role in part taking with their rivalry. The Prestige poster also uses the shadows and darkness on their faces to the full with both of the heads of Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale being on either side of the flame in the middle as well as looking at opposite directions with half their faces in shadows which creates and enigmatic feature about this poster letting the audience know that each have a dark mystery that they would need to find out about, I have tried to use this feature in my own poster since both of my characters do have a dark mystery about their past.

  1. Do you have any inspirational texts that have a similar concept to this - think about the poster of "The Prestige" that we studied in class... why did that work?
