For my short movie I was tasked with creating an Institution Logo and a Production Logo to go with it, First of all I had to sit down and think of a few different ideas for the overall design and the final look for both the logo’s, I did this by drawing each idea that came to me on a piece of paper by using a few inspirations, then I scanned it and took the file over to photo shop and added the final colours, effects and background for each of the institution and production logo. I wanted to portray a professional look as well as something that may be found in an actual animated film/trailers logo.

Final Logo look
The tools that I used for these two logos are the Pen tool, The Brush tool, Rectangular Marquee tool, Gradient tool, Dodge tool, Burn tool and the effects: stroke, drop shadow.
- Production Logo

For this one I started by Adding in the Background colour first.
Then I went with creating the red rectangle by using the rectangular marquee tool.
I then added in the white areas by using the Pen tool and creating a path and then turning it into a selection, and then using the brush tool I added the white areas from a distant to gain that faded shiny look on the rectangle.
After that I went onto the actual letters and the picture by using the pen tool and filling it in, and I did the same for the very dark grey areas as well and the shine on the letters too.
I also took the image on the top and created a pattern from it by pressing EDIT>DEFINE PATTERN and then selecting the Red Rectangle I filled it all in by using the Fill background with Pattern.
- Institution Logo

This one was the same as the last but I had to draw the hand print from scratch and place it over the square.
For the font I used the text box and then used the Dodge tool to add a shine on the words and the square and the burn tool to bring out the font a bit more.
Then I used the drop shadow effect to make it look a bit more real and to give the effect as if it is floating
And for the background I used the Gradient tool to bring out the grey colour of the font a bit more and make it look metallic.
Here I have tried to take both my designs and ideas a bit further and try to imitate what the production team on Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes did, at the starting of the film Silver Pictures, Village Road show Pictures and Warner Bros. logos are shown to be engraved/carved into the ground and bricks through the use of CGI and I have tried to use that technique here but instead I have depicted my logos into sand, and the movement of a sand storm or just a draft of wind blowing the logo's into the sand has been my way of being inspired from this process by imitating it, but I think I will need to work more into it and add in more detail or do the process a bit more differently like the logos could appear on rocks instead of on the sand.
Although at first I thought this was a pretty cool idea, I eventually when I looked back on to it I didn’t feel like what I wanted to have on my own production so I changed this idea and went with something that looks a bit more professional as well as not taking too much time like in my following video -
